God's Pocket and Queen Charlotte Strait
This tour focuses on the waters surrounding God's Pocket Provincial
Park in the southern portion of the
Queen Charlotte
Strait, near Port Hardy
This trip has a little bit of everything. Orcas visit
these waters during the summer months (though not as a regularly
as in Johnstone Strait). Sea lions are plentiful and
larger whales like the humpback are frequently seen. Deer
are often seen along the shoreline and bald eagles dot the
trees. The most fantastic wildlife though is best seen during
low tide. The currents flowing between the islands supply
lots of nutrients to a vast array of intertidal creatures.
Sea Stars, urchins and plumose anemones can all be seen during
low tide.
Water taxi transportation is provided at the start and end
of the trip to allow us to spend as much time as possible
paddling through the islands.
