6 Day/5 Night Johnstone Strait
Kayak Tour
$1445 CDN per person, All-inclusive
This tour is popular with people who want to experience seeing
Orca in the wild. We begin with a water taxi ride from Telegraph
Cove to our base camp where we stay our first night. From
here we start a nomadic trip that allows us to explore the
channels and islands that adjoin Johnstone Strait in addition
to paddling the areas most often visited by orcas and other
whales. During the trip we will usually stay at 2 other campsites
in addition to our base camp.
Paddling throughout the islands we will see evidence of the
local kwakwaka'wakw native culture that the abundant wildlife
supported. A possible side trip we may take is to the abandoned
native village of Meem Quam Leese (also known as Mamaliliculla)
on Village Island. If the native guardian is in the village
he will regale us with legends and stories of his people.
Our kayaking tour ends in the village of Telegraph Cove where
we will have an opportunity to explore the historic boardwalk
and visit the Bones Project - Whale Museum.
