Sayward, Mother Nature's Playground
Sited near beautiful Kelsey Bay and surrounded by towering
Mount H'Kusam and the Prince of Wales range mountains, Sayward
is at the estuary of the rushing Salmon River. The estuary
is home to and on the migratory paths of numerous species
of waterfowl. Its proximity to the salmon rich Inside Passage,
the summer feeding range of the killer whale, make Sayward
central for whale watching and saltwater sports fishing. Area
streams and lakes are also favourites for freshwater anglers.
The world's largest
Cypress tree is here as well as an
impressive red cedar forest preserve. Just off the highway,
is a unique building wrapped in 8,200 feet of steel cable
and locally crafted "Iron Man" totem - reflective of Sayward's
rich logging heritage.
Access to the Sayward
area wilderness is enabled through hiking trails.
Campsites range
from full service to wooded settings.
For unforgettable
experiences in Mother Nature's playground, make Sayward a
must see.
